Ellie is a small town girl at the turn of the century just waiting to get married to her childhood sweet heart Andrew. But there is one problem. Andrew’s father asks him to postpone the wedding. And this is where things began to fall short. There is no lead up to this. Out of the blue, his father just says wait.
Andrew is furious, and this leads him to make some very bad decisions. The most exciting part of the novel happens at the end, but the only lasts a few pages and wraps up so quickly the reader never really gets to fully appreciate the building up of the story.
There’s little passion. Ellie hands burn and she gets hot when Andrew is near, but nothing to really interest the reader.
Theology is sound, but not really present.
I say get it from the library, but there was nothing that really made want to rush through the novel to the ending.
